Chemistry C405 Course Guidelines, 2018-2019
Instructor: Mr. Turner, Room B-223
Tutoring hours Monday - Thursday from 3:55 PM - 4:30 PM
Exams: Exams will cover the textbook, lectures, lab work, and other activities.
Make-up work: It is your responsibility to find out what was covered, copy notes from
another student or pick-up handouts. Alternative assignments may be given for make-up
work. If approved, make-up exams are by appointment only before school, after school or
during my conference period. Make up assignments will be completed in accordance with
the current EPISD policy.
Grading: Nine 30% tests Semester 45% each 9 wks grade
weeks 30% labs 10% final exam
30% quizzes, homework, writing
10% nine week’s test
Science Fair: Each Pre-AP student is required to write a science fair paper and participate
at the science fair in January.
Notebook: Each student must keep a 3-prong, loose leaf, 2-pocket notebook with class
notes, homework, labs, and handouts. It must have numbered pages and a table of contents.
Rules
> Be on time to class! You should be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
> Be prepared: bring your agenda, pen/pencil, laptop, and notebook.
> Restrooms should be used during transition, not class time.
> After you have finished a lab activity, please clean and store all equipment and materials
in their proper places, and then ask Mr. Turner for a clearance check.
> Assignments are due at the BEGINNING of class; late assignments will be penalized
in accordance with EPISD policy.
> An exam may be repeated for a reduced grade, but students must attend tutoring before
retaking the test.
>Your laptop will be used for electronic instruction - not your cell phone, so put it away.
> Some lab items may be hazardous, and privileges WILL BE LOST for unsafe behavior.
> The Science Prep Room is only for teachers and staff, NOT STUDENTS!
